While more than a hundred examples of the Alfa Romeo TZ-1 now feature a famed double-bubble roof, this is the only one delivered as new.

The car's original owner? Dimitri Nabokov, son of Vladimir Nabokov, one of the world’s most celebrated authors and writer of “Conclusive Evidence.”

Upon taking delivery, Dmitri immediately began running the TZ-1 in multiple racing series, where it achieved numerous class wins, top-three finishes and a first overall finish at the 1966 Warwick Farm International.

The car’s journey even earned it the cover of the April 1969 issue of Sports Car World magazine.

The TZ-1 was eventually re-commissioned for vintage racing–taking on Moroso, Sebring and Watkins Glen during the early ’90s–and then underwent a full engine rebuild to competition specs in 2015.

Find this 1964 Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ-1 'Double Bubble' for auction by RM Sotheby’s at Monterey 2025 with an estimated value of $700,000 to $900,000.
