What do you get when you match a Lister chassis with Frank Costin-designed bodywork and a Chevrolet Corvette V8? This very sports racer–which was the first one the Lister company ever built.
Costin, a noted British aerodynamicist with experience in both aerospace and automotive industries, crafted the body, which features a unique nose compared to other Costin creations, though. It had to accommodate a larger radiator and the customer John Ewer’s desire for a more aggressive aerodynamic profile.
Ewer went on to campaign this vehicle at Goodwood in 1959. After Ewer, it went through a series of racing enthusiast owners. The Lister has a track record boasting of both in-period racing wins and, more recently, vintage racing wins.
Find this 1959 Lister-Chevrolet “Costin” Sports-Racing Two-Seater up for auction at Bonhams, with an estimated value of $800,000-$1,100,000.
