Many people lament about the so-called malaise period of automobiles sold in the US. The wonderful thing about this Alfa and other European cars of the era was there was a genuine European factory spec to convert back to, returning the cars to full, intended performance. Some domestically produced and sold vehicles had no such lifeline, as they were strictly built as such with no other official options to fall back to, short of what would be considered 'aftermarket' modifications.
