I had originally bought this car for the frame and title. I was going to build a XP car with a licence plate or of an old race car.
As rough as this car was, it's the first datsun I've bought with basically no rust, so I got ideas that maybe I could use the race car parts to build a crazy street car.
The Datsun was apparently rolled in the early 80s, driven around a farm after until the head gasket blew, then parked inside a barn and used for parts.
After Cutting away the heavy damaged rear section
A bunch of panel fitting, a door, we are looking like a car again.
3800 v6 out of a 2k camaro, Holden commodore lower intake, roughly milled aluminum pieces to hand a Bonneville m90 on top.
my m90 swelled up into a m112
Lightning intake modified with a l98 corvette throttle body. Mocked up in this picture
About this point, my plan was to use a ministock quick-change axle, but realized that I'd probably break it. Found and installed a narrowed explorer 8.8
Stock dash from a parts car that was really really bad shape. Cut out all the foam a made a flat instrument panel. Filled with Speedhut guages.
So thats where I'm at with it now. Since the garage is finally getting warm enough to hang out in, I'm fixing to push to get it driving this summer.
The engine is coming out again to install a lumpy ZZP "NIC" cam, Ls7 lifters, ls6 springs, delete the balance shaft, and install clutch line and remote bleeder hose on the T5. Also need to finish building headers and side exhaust.
Body needs to come off again to build axle torque rod mounts, plumb fuel lines to the Aeroquip in-tank pump, and brake lines.
Engine control is by MS3Pro Evo, running sequeintial injection and wasted spark ignition, powered up by a EcuMaster PMU16 PDM. I will probably add Water/meth injection if knock is an issue. Currently have the slowest pulley combo I could setup easy on the Blower, should be fine to get started with. My target is 325-350 wheel HP
I'm in love. I'm glad you saved it.

Love this. A friend runs a rowdy ex road race version at AUTOX and it is an amazing site to see, hear, and smell.
What is your plan for the front brakes?
In reply to jr02518 :
I'm doing volvo 240 calipers for now. Just need to turn down the rotors like an 1/8in. Gotta stay under the 14in wheels.
Going to try pinto spindles later, and custom upper arms. Then it'll be some vented disks with willwood 4 or 6 pot calipers.
I would love more progress pictures of the bodywork. Is that all steel? Turned out amazing.
Please include the build up of the master cylinder system, that looks like it required a complete refresh of the firewall.
Well, that looked easy as pie :)

Fenders, quarters, and hood are race-weight fiberglass from a vintage racecar that went back to metal.
In reply to jr02518 :
Tilton pedal setup and a plate from speedway.
I'll post up some better firewall pics when I pull the body off again in a week or two.
It looks a little bit better than that now. Lol. Made a little room when I decided to move the engine back a few more inches over Christmas break.
Been working on engine stuff this weekend. Changed valve springs (ls6 90lb) and headgaskets. Had to mock up blower for fuel plumbing location and attached hood to stock hinges.
