That paint looks like it should come back.

Little purple bottle 3m perfect-it polish on a black foam waffle on a da should do nice.

Now I find this out? Dang it!

Love me some C3. Can't wait to see how it turns out for you. I've got a C3/4 dream one day, so, glad to live that out remotely for now.

Yeah the paint is working out but it's tough. It's some sort of super hard paint. Probably catalyzed enamel. This was with using 600 wet.

On top of the respray there are two horrible spot paints. Looks like they might come off ok as well.

Nice score! Had. 69 t top for 5 years. Greatly enjoyed it. Many body reinforcements added that year to cure problems found on the 68s. Enjoy!

Impressed with how the paint is coming back. Thought it was a gonner. I find the C3 to be the best looking Coooorvette. I'd love to drive one one day. I'll take mine with a 6.5TD and a Muncie please.

The first deep dig into the cabin was a bit nasty.

Rodents - every where - a long time ago.

But overall not too bad...

After the clean out is done... I'll replace the 8 body mounts, and shim as needed. This SHOULD restore the rear door gap. Right now it is 0.

Reliable, presentable driver status.

Fun to drive.. with no worries for the wear and tear of driving it.

Somewhere between a "patina car" and a survivor in terms of appearance, with intelligent upgrades for function and performance.

I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

C2s are magic. They are just right in so many ways, and a '65 327/365 roadster is right at the top of the heap. That's a grail car. That was my dad's fourth (I think) car, sold too soon and sorely missed, and was a flame that he came pretty close to rekindling throughout my childhood. He never did, and now they're crazy, impossible money.

As much as it's not a C2, a chrome-bumpered C3 is no slouch. They definitely have their charm, and plenty of it in a four-speed roadster. I am very much looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Another mouse house...

A list of things I enjoy removing from project cars:

Rodent Dwellings

Extra wires, scotch locks,

aftermarket alarms

incorrect hardware

and all of the other cumulative results of unskilled or careless owners

+1 on aftermarket alarms... there should be a special place in Hell for owners who install them.

Amen on alarms.

Straight to hell.. to waiting.. especially if they use slotted wood screws and scotch locks.

Main product photo

I will spend all kinds of hours tracing and replacing wiring repairs and additions at this stage.

Ive seen 110v ac wiring switches and outlets (speaker extensions) on occasion.

...shudder...

And finding original hardware and clips to me is like an egyptologist finding a sealed tomb...pretty sure no one has been in hereI .......love it!

Congrats on the pick up! Looks like a fun project. I have a soft spot for C3s (or as my wife calls them "schwoop-schwoop Corvettes") as my grandfather had a late C3 that I envied as a kid.  Looking forward to seeing this build.

Included with the car was a report from NCRS stating that the car was delivered to Bill Book Chevy City in Altoona PA.

On June 19th, 1969

Evidently Bill Book Chevy was an active performance dealer.

I guess that the strike caused stock orders to get shuffled a bit....

Then I found this:

Those graphics might be fun...

Anyone know anything about Bill Book Chevy?

Ha!

No, i am up in Jax, coincidentally i spent 5 exceptional hours  the santa fe a couple weeks ago though!   I didnt do a thread for the '68, just the occasional video.

have you decided how extensively youre going to tear into it? Obviously, youre already pretty far. The two jobs i looked the other way on were the body mounts and bird cage. My mounts were def trash when i sold the car and the bit i could see of the bird cage wasnt pleasant....
