Uh, I wouldn't uppercut anything on this car. Have someone experienced work it out slowly from the edges and not try to bang it out from the middle.

Was that Dry Ice® or just ice-ice?
And I wouldn't plunge or uppercut, but just press gently from inside. Whatever. I'm glad the PDR guy is on his way.
In reply to Woody :
Just ice.
I'm going to leave this right here for your Saturday viewing pleasure. The original Porsche built Martini car. One of the best photographs I've ever seen.
Well maybe just one more
A few years back when this project was first Brewing in my stroke addled noggin, a friend did some photoshop work for me for ideas. It includes phone dials and the mesh Wheels in different colors. Any thoughts guys?
I think I've ruled out the black phone dials and the white mesh. Maybe the mesh altogether because keeping clean if I'm running this thing on dirt road. The white phone dial seem to mimic white Fuchs that everybody seems to be using on these builds. I know it's traditional rally style and I was thinking of something a little different possibly. Pete Gossett and I have kicked around idea and we came across a more bronze color as used on Lancia Stratos rally cars. The gold phone dials that were Photoshop seem a little too Yellow. What say the hive?
Not a big fan of white wheels but.... Have to say it fits nicely on that car. If not, the bronze is.. ok.
The silver paint finish on the phone dials is pretty dead. I'm prepping them for pain and sanding them reveals a natural soft Gray nonmetallic color that looks very vintage. I thought about doing that but they would have to be clear coated as the bare aluminum easily absorbed dirt and oil and discolors the Bare aluminum. Also the bare aluminum corrodes rapidly.
Hate to admit it but you and Pete have good taste. My first thought was gold PD on red looked great.
My opinion:
1. Silver phone dials.
2. Bronze (a la Stratos) phone dials.
3. If you must, white phone dials.
Remember how some folks put Torq-Thrust wheels on 911's to get wider wheels onto the early cars?
I still say white PD's.
Dog forbid a rally car gets wrecked, but it would give you the chance to do a Stratos re-body. When annoying the purists, might as well go full tilt.

Now I’m rethinking my choice...I want to see a rally-esque 911 on Cragar SS.
Bronze dials. Gold doesn't feel tough enough for a rally beast.
(Though Snow would not be unhappy with white dials)

Hmmmmmm.....maybe graft an X/19 front on it and what?....a TR-7 arse with an after market 240z flipper..
the GRM X/1911TR7z STRATOS**....just rolls off your tongue! Off to 2018 dollar classified section to start scrounging parts for the inevitable!

Want to be blown away? A vintage set of magnesium American Racing torque thrusts restored that fit early 911s usually go for about $4,000 a set. That's insane.
That pricing doesn't shock me really. They're rare wheels and are basically Porsche parts as well. They look great on those cars though.
