I'm excited! It's WAY beyond my meager capabilities though.
I'm two-ish hours away. I can help on a weekend given a week's notice
Working on pick up options currently. The car is at Lira Motorsports near Daytona.

It won't be by the time your done with it! With the help and advise on here, and perseverance, you got this..
Ad was gone by the time I saw this post, and prolly beyond my reach - so I was kinda glad! Very glad now to see it go to a good home. Excited to see this come together.
I'm going to go back and read this insane wagon swap thread for inspiration!

Thanks for the offer. I'll certainly keep that in mind!
I'm glad to see this will be a GRM build. I expect this swap is wayyyy above my skill level so I'm glad to live vicariously through a build thread.

I've never done anything more complex than a spark plug change so safe to say it's wayyyy above my skill grade too!

From a quick search, it's an optical illusion. X5 is 191" and e39 Touring is 189".
On a related note, the X5d tows like a dream. With an empty trailer, it feels like nothing is behind the car!

I'm busy with the "Oh boy, this is WAY beyond me, what was I thinking" phase of the project, so no build thread as of yet.
Just breath, start with what you can do, reach out to the hive for input as you approach a step you're uncertain of, and enjoy it. As the old saying goes, "You know how to eat an elephant? One bite at a time." You've got this, no pressure, just enjoy it at a pace that you're comfortable with. But don't forget the pics!

Bad Tom! You're supposed to be supportive I'm sure you're not alone, but as someone who's confidence in their ability and what they're willing to tackle came a little later in life, I'd like to see him succeed. Yes, I know, it's all in jest, but let's cheer him on!

I'm sure half this board would assist in getting this project running and roasting tires.
