What are your top five automotive events you'd like to compete in before you kick the Bucket? Bonus points if they are in North America and can be done on a mortal mans budget.

Before I get booed off the stage for suggesting a dirt track race IMCA Super Nats or the Chili Bowl.
Maybe a PWC event in TCA.
Targa Newfoundland would be cool too.
La Carrera Panamericana is another one I would love to try sometime.
Big Bend Open Road Rally and the Silver State Classic are 2 more I'd love to play in.
I want to drive in the Silver State Classic open road race in Nevada. Depending on class, $1000-1500 in fees.
Otherwise I'm less interested in events, more so different road trips. US Rt 20 coast to coast, AlCan highway, ect.
1) STPR Rally (in a lightly modified Fiesta ST)
2) Pikes Peak (same car will be fine)
3) Silver State (i'd turn up the boost a bit)
4) Bonneville Speed Week (i'd turn up the boost more)
5) One Lap of America (what the heck, i'd keep the boost up)
Buy car at junkyard
1) 2016 GRM Challenge
2) Cannonball Race to the west coast
3) LeMons Race
4) Local dirt track sprint
5) Demo Derby
Walk away from said car.
1) Targa Newfoundland: Highest on my list but life keeps getting in the way.
2) Pikes Peak: I'll never be invited to that at the rate I'm going though.
3) One Lap of America: Possible, but again life happens.
4) Recreate the run in the movie Børning just so I have an excuse to drive through Norway.
5) UTCC in something boosted and rotary.
all in a challenge car.
prefereably a 1st gen neon, or AWD v8 s10.
1.SCCA Improved Touring race at COTA (the $1500 entry fee has a bit of sticker shock, though), 2.Pikes Peak Hill Climb in a Time Attack 1 prepped ND Miata or NB Mazdaspeed Miata, 3.run the Texas Mile in the Street Legal category, 4.Silver State Classic Challenge in the Grand Sport class, 5.(pipe dream here) Run 5 hot laps of Bathurst in an Australian V8 Supercars Ford Falcon
Demo Derby
Lemons or Chump Car
GRM $20XX Challenge
Bonneville Speed Week.
Most of these would be realistically possible to some degree. I don't have the shop to really build anything capable though. Hopefully in the next 10 or 15 years I can try and knock some of these down.
One Lap of America - Done
Big Bend Open Road Race - Sending in the paperwork in a couple of weeks.
Texas Mile - I'll get to this soon
The hill climb out east that lets you run without a cage as long as you don't beat the breakout time. I need to figure out which one it is.
Targa Newfoundland - running in the 'slow' class. Someday.
The plan is to do all of these in the CTS-V Wagon. I'm trying to have as much fun as possible while not caging the car.
Hot Rod Drag Week (Not the crazy Unlimited class, but I'd like to do Big Block Naturally Aspirated, weapon of choice would be a Fox-body with a spread-port 598ci Chevy)
Al-Can Highway (Not really an event but I want to run the Al-Can Highway as fast as possible in either a prepped STi or SVT Raptor)
Targa Newfoundland (A friend of mine has been discussing doing this with me but the logistics kill it. It's 14 hours from his place to mine and then another 28 from mine to the event)
Miatas At The Gap (Already did it, but I highly recommend it to any Miata-philes)
Speed Week at Bonneville (or El Mirage. El Mirage is more hardcore)
La Carrera Panamericana is on the list for me, I will find a way to do it in a full fat American car done with all the speed parts from the 40-50's that I have in the garage.
I would like to do the hot rod tour as well in a 28 roadster with a Flathead and camp the whole way. Then use the car for the race of the gentleman.

That would be any New England Hillclimb Association event. www.hillclimb.org. That includes Ascutney, Burke, Okemo and Mt Philo.
Big Bend Open Road Race (Same basic format as Silver State, but closer to home.)
GRM $2kX Challenge
Lemons/Chump Car
It might take some figuring to do them in the same car ...
Probably neither of your criteria,
I think it would be neat to experience the Isle of Man TT
as well as attend the Goodwood festival of speed
In reply to sachilles:
Thanks! I need to plan to make one of these. They look like neat events and quite frankly the guys that show up look like some of the nicest in motorsports.

We are the nicest. Bring aspirin (we like good beer too).
You'll need to log in to post.
