Budget used to rent trailers about ten years ago, might still.

Budget, Hertz {Penske}, just about anyplace that rents moving vans and trucks will have trailers for rent. Hard to beat U-haul prices though, probably why some of them are so ghetto..

In my area only U-Haul rents a trailer without an accompanying truck rental.

You might look for a local equipment/tool rental place, they sometimes have car transport trailers.

I've used the local equipment rental place a few times. They have heavy duty tilt trailers for less than u haul.

I rent from U-Haul usually once a month. Their trailers are usually in good shape, but a little heavy. Be sure and get a 7 or 7.5 (gray) rather than a 6.5 (red). The fender folds down farther and you can actually get the Miata's door open. Don't do a one-way rental, it costs a lot more.

Ended up renting from u-haul. Hoping for the best.

What do the numbers refer to? I've gotten the gray on my last two rentals but by accident. Is there a way to pre-request this?

Not sure where you are located but when I lived in Cleveland a local trailer retailer rented trailers, (JTI Trailers) I rented several trailers from them and the price was always lower then the retail chains and always better quality. So you may want to check your local trailer retailer see if they do rentals.

I have found that Uhaul trailers are usually in decent shape.. it's the trucks I would not touch with a 10 foot pole.

In reply to mad_machine:

The one time I rented a uhaul trailer (biggest box IIRC) the wheel bearings had enough play I'd have considered repacking them if I weren't only putting 200 miles on it loaded with light stuff. Other than that it seemed fine though.

I rented the one with the flip down fenders. Pretty cool feature! Other then a strap getting jammed up I had no issues.

They rent dogs? Wow!

The real problem with U-haul rentals is that they don't have very many of them on the rental lots, and that means that if the guy who rented it before you is late in returning it then you're screwed. Reservation or not, there's no trailer for them to give you, and now you're scrambling around at 3PM on a Friday trying to find a trailer at short notice to tow your car to the track for Saturday.

You'll need to log in to post.
