Wow the concourse thread went south fast. I feel contributing to it was my worst post challenge idea...
In reply to pimpm3 :
I'm thiiiiiiis close to bringing up the $2000 price cap next year just to see how many people lose their minds over losing $19 and seeing if it will distract from concourse.
Tube chassis filled with compressed air used to spool a holset when a relief valve is pulled after reaching the 60ft mark of the drag race.

I’m totally with you.
I gave you a thumbs up, but it registered as 2. Must be a sign!
If you want a hypergolic rocket fuel combination, John Clark wrote that turpentine fuel with a mixed sulfuric and nitric acid oxidizer was about as easy-to-handle as anything that they found in propellant development. Of course, when concentrated sulfuric acid is the less-hazardous component you'll have to learn good chemical-handling practices before starting work...
BiTurbo who wants to help and sponsor the first BiTurbo build?
Checked ebay sold listings similar two sold for $500 and $800.

That is one of only like 3 BiTurbos that I was able to find in looking through all of the major cities/areas in the entire country. I very much want one (but a coupe or spyder), but it looks like it will be damn near impossible to find one at anything near Challenge money...

I was going to ask about adjustments for BiTurbo listings on C/L... so a where a "fair" civic there is actually "bad"... similarly a "fair" BiTurbo is actually in pretty good shape. But then they listed it as non-running.... which seems obvious from a) the car; b) the price?
I can't believe I never mentioned one of my favorites! Grafting a V-twin motorcycle engine to the front of your existing engine so it sticks out the grille like a Morgan trike.
In reply to ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ :
Or the way overthought 3 engine vehicle? I mean I saw a $500 snowmobile on FB marketplace and thought of it.
In reply to Andy Neuman :
Seth actually came up with an even more intense one involving 4 identical engines, to which I immediately responded with an idea for mechanical torque vectoring. It's probably good that all of us are only in the same place once per year.
I have yet to make it to a Challenge. I was thinking about buying whatever car would stay running for less than 2k and just run it with no real goal of being competitive, just to be participating.
But then I thought, if you don't want to win, why not bring the WORST possible car for the challenge.
I found a 6x6 military wrecker that runs for $1700. I guarantee you can't flip it at the autocross. Timing the runs will take a calendar.
How about an AWD/4WD class? As long as all 4 wheels are powered, have at it. Factory or homebrewed. There's a lot of ways to skin that cat.
Edit: I probably should have put this suggestion in the Special Class thread, but I'm noticing an AWD theme here.

I’ve been 3-times now. The first year I went just to spectate, but ended up helping Ovid_and_Flem. It was awesome, but with so much going on, and being part of a first-year team(who I’d never met prior), it was difficult to really enjoy it sometimes.
Last year I brought a car, and Ovid_and_Flem & I again teamed up. It was great, but also a lot of work knowing a mid-pack finish was the best I could hope for. It also isn’t like a normal autox, since you really need to plan on a pro driver doing your runs(unless you’re also a national champion), so you miss out somewhat compared to a normal event. As a non-drag racer, I wish there were pro drivers who could help us out with that portion!
This year, going to assist Stampie’s team was about perfect. I was able to assist without so much stress & tasks that I couldn’t just hang out and enjoy the event. Previously I wouldn’t have considered the idea of traveling that far to attend without bringing an entry, but it was my favorite year so far!
TL;DR - don’t worry too much about whether you have a car ready, just get down to Gainesville next year.

This is the same conclusion I've come to after following along with the PLB thread and the live streams. I'm planning on being at the $2019 Challenge either with my own challenge car or to join a PLB team as a contributor of Wisconsin beer and red power tools.

Unless you have the right combination of specialized skills plus a dash of luck, aiming to be competitive/win the overall just isn't IMO worth it. Going just to enjoy yourself and have fun running whatever tickles your fancy is the best thing for non-super-hardcore builders/mechanics/AXers/Drag Racers.
Well, I just sold a car with good challenge potential after a little work, and am now strongly considering buying a different car with much less challenge potential and a lot more work.
I've been twice. Contributed nothing but stickers. Had a great time. Plan to return every year if possible, but no real solid plans to build anything.

You’re welcome on Team Alavanche next year especially if i pull off what I’m trying to pull off

Imagine a Challenge where all the entrants had to start with one common car, say an 8th generation Corolla. I personally would love to see what you guys (and girls) could do, not so much with the Corolla but with the very same platform.
Such a Challenge has been proposed, with the Biturbo as the common car. First place is whoever keeps it running the longest.
I carefully did not say "winner".
