Agreed. That's why I added YMMV. For me personally, it's a fool me once shame on me type deal and I will not buy another Marantz product.

Bah, that would rule out Toyota, Mazda, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Denon, Rotel, Onkyo, Sony, Kitchen Aid, Allen Edmonds, Ecco, Carhartt, and Apple for me.

Did you reach out to their customer service department? In my experience with Denon (same parent company) they were very willing to work with me to come to a reasonable solution. Actually, they came to an unreasonable solution that greatly benefited me.

My Denon only lasted a few years after my Onkyo lasted approx 7. The Onkyo started to get "louder" once it had been on and cranking awhile. I forget what it's called, thermal runaway? But you could hear and watch the screen numbers increase after it warmed and just continued to get louder. It got to the point you couldn't listen above a whisper.

The Denon died after a few year years, inputs slowly started dying, then one day POP and no more sound.

I'm leaning toward another Onkyo or possibly a Yamaha I think.

I do like the idea of the slim Marantz and pairing with something super efficient like Klipsch reference speakers. Need to read all it's specs/features.

Google 'Marantz NR150 popping'. It seems to be a fairly common issue. Mine is now maybe 7 years old. Popping started maybe after 3 years. I left mine turned on to avoid the several minutes of crappy sound when energized. After maybe 6 months of being on all the time it seems to have just died. I haven't opened it up to see what happened this time - it's not been a priority.

Make sure you get one with HDMI switching to simplify switching. Multiple digital optical inputs are also a plus.

I was going to recommend Klipsch for your preferred music and volume tastes.
