What a body shop tech told me once when the pinstripes didn't quite match on both sides of a customer's car: "Can you look at both sides at the same time?"

That's what I'm going with.
Second row of flames down. Tough part will be the pinstripe on the edges. Hopefully I can get a super fine paint marker or something.

I would go full Karen if a body shop said that to me.
Tech to estimator, not tech to customer.
I'd leave those flames alone. I don't think adding the division stripe is going to turn out well freehand and may ruin what is currently a pretty cool paint job.
Well, the purple paint came out pretty good, but the tape I used to mask off the silver made the silver look even worse. I guess it really never did dry all the way. Although if you squint it could almost pass for a brushed metal look. Maybe I can buff it a little bit. Or maybe this is the late 80s and this van is a little bit battle-worn and showing its age.

3M "Precision Masking Tape" it's not done this before as I can recall but maybe it's a little too tacky for certain paints. I really just think this silver was never fully dry, I've had problems with leaving fingerprints on it also.
That said, a little buffing has brought it down from a mottled mess to a reasonably consistent (if dull) finish...good as it's gonna get, I think.
Now to thrash on getting the rest of the thing built. I need to carpet the floor, put the seats in, the special accessories befitting a custom van, and then get all the exterior stuff done too. Good thing I'm not busy this weekend...wait. Okay, good thing I'm not busy Sunday at least.
Chassis and tires/rims ready for the body. Did I mention how much I hate trimming flash?
Gonna be close. It's our anniversary tomorrow and I have to work all day.
I haven't even started because I've been stuck doing this:
So I'm totally okay with OT if you all are.
Yup... I'm not going to finish on time. Spent thd weekend installing AC so that we don't die. The car has been on hold, The decals need to be applied before clear, which needs a 24 cure before assembly. It's just not gonna happen in time.
So much for two months of time. Lol
Maybe tomorrow? Or Tuesday? Is this what being AngryCorvair is like? Shhh,...don't tell him I said that!
Really, as a spectator, I would not mind 4 builds a year. You guys do great work and I'd rather it not be rushed like some cheesy reality car show.

August has an extra day in it too!
