We already had a vacation planned to the north Georgia mountains. Now it looks like it may hook into north georgia after making landfall.

Some good news, latest forecast is that it should fall to cat.3 before it hits land:

The trackers this morning are showing it hitting Wilmington directly then dropping into SC and back up the I-26 corridor.

NYT article I just read said they expect it to pick back up to Cat 4 by this afternoon. 

Set a new personal Interstate driving record yesterday. Covered the 28 miles from VA border to first toll booth in WV in 4 1/2 hours. Other than those extra 4 hours, the trip was ok. 

The 2AM The 2AM Saturday H is my house. Hopefully the house is still there when we go back. If not, it's only stuff.

I’ve been following the stories about the Navy evacuation from Norfolk and VB. I grew up on the Little Creek Base from 84-96. This latest turn west has that spot looking good. Good luck to those in the crosshairs though.  

Related, this will be interesting for my inlaws relocating to Savannah. I’m not sure if my F-I-L has moved yet.

In case any fellow GRMer's in the area of the hurricane need a place to store stuff.  I assume they'll run out of space, quickly.

I doubt anyone is looking to drive this far, but we have an air mattress & 2 couches here in Biloxi if anyone needs a place to evacuate to.

FYI, if you have a car with satellite radio, they will be broadcasting the Weather Channel on channel 145 starting tomorrow.  Free for anyone with a radio.

Well, it's looking like we might get some wind and rain out of it after all. 

By the time it gets to us, the wind speeds should have dropped considerably but we have cleared the porches and brought all the plants in. 

Now is the sitting around and doing nothing. 

Careful, it's a jungle in there. 

Yeah, it's looking like it won't be too bad here in VA Beach after all.  I know things can change, but it's looking better for us.  Not so much for NC and SC, though.
