Email received. Thanks!
I'll give you a shout Monday in the PM.
I got a text from the current owner today. They are particularly crappy videos, but he's making sure it's ready for the trip for me.

That looks really nice and really wide. What a great platform to start with.

This video tell me a lot.
It doesn't need new spark plug wires.
Seller is either crazy or has never been shocked by an ignition system.
I wa thinking you should throw in a stack of spill kit diapers. If it pukes a seal you can also get creative and avoid leaving a massive puddle everywhere you stop.
If your route takes you through Louisville, KY or the surrounding areas, JunkyardDog and I are totally in for helping with anything you may need. I live on a couple of acres, so there's plenty of room for the bus if needed. My neighbors already expect REALLY dumb E36 M3 at my house anyway.
One of my neighbors is an old Ford expert, even. He does dumb things with us.
Well, I'm ready. The list is complete, everything is ready to load.
Now comes the waiting.
The next two days are going to last forever.

He'll be constantly updating this thread with his adventures. You won't even have to wait for him to call, just leave the thread up and hit refresh every half hour or so. It'll be like you're riding along with him!
Speaking of Spot. Since there has been some interest in this trip, I have created a Spot share page for the interested. If it works, map will be here.
I'll try to remember to punch the button every hour or so which should drop a location on the map.
Edit. I set it up so the Spot would ping the satellite every 10 minutes or so automatically.
very cool idea to Spot track it. I have friends that use them while endurance racing mountain bikes and it's always cool to follow along when I can't go ride.

Yeah, I was at the office making sure the Spot would do what I wanted it to.
12 hours and counting.
Very cool on the Spot!
Popular with distance sailboat racing too.
Very nice for us who are following along.
I am excited to see this trip unfold. Eight pages in, let the traveling part of the adventure begin!

I've spent a lot of hours working out there. It's a very cool place to walk through.
Unfortunately they do not allow photography. Multiple people have been kicked off the plant permanently, for uploading pictures.
Oh, and that plane is monstrous when it's sitting on the apron.
Your spot is close to where I used to live in 1997, just up the way in King's Grant. (the stop represented by "SC" in my username)
Safe travels and epic adventures!
I made a similar trip almost a year ago now. See the thread: https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/what-to-bring-on-1000-mile-road-trip-with-a-truck-ive-never-seen/98435/page1/
I'm sure you've got it all planned out now with the trip so soon, but I just wanted to add my $0.02.
Bring warm clothes....I was going 1000 miles straight north basically, and the cab of the truck had zero weatherstripping. The last couple of hours of 15 degrees below freezing were brutal with air blasting in through the door gaps at speed, the heater was no match.
The GPS unit I borrowed was also invaluable, I had no idea where I was going and the only thing on the dash that worked were the turn signal indicators and alternator idiot light. I didn't have my smartphone capabilities turned on since I was international roaming, that would have made things a lot easier if I had been able to use it for maps/research/staying connected along the way.
The small tools I brought saved me as well. I didn't think I would need small 1/4" sockets and stuff, but I had to work under the dash to replace the heater core on mine.
Good luck! :) I'll be watching this thread.
You'll need to log in to post.
