The predecessor to the Austin-Healey 3000, the 100-6, improved upon the 100 by adding two more cylinders to its engine, raising the count to six. That straight-six, rated for more than 110 horsepower, is said to be able to accelerate the Austin-Healey from zero to 60 mph in less than 11 seconds and reach a top speed of a little over 100 mph.
This 1958 Austin-Healey 100-6 is reported to be a numbers-matching example that remained under the care of its previous owner for 17 years. During that time, the 100-6 received some restoration work and upgrades that include a transmission rebuild in 2005 and a conversion to front disc brakes in 1995.
Originally finished in Colorado Red, this Austin-Healey now wears white over a black interior with white piping.
As well, the listing notes that the car comes with a California salvage title: “Previous ownership history reveals the car was involved in a fire resulting in an insurance claim. The insurance company paid the claim, but the car remained sound enough to warrant restoration.”
