Car Catcher: A Numbers-Matching, European-Spec Porsche 911

From 1974 to 1975, Porsche offered a version of the 911 that was mechanically similar to the legendary RS model, featuring a 210-horsepower, 2.7-liter engine and all. For models sold in the United States, however, the 2.7 Carrera used a CIS K-Jetronic injection system that let the car meet North American emission standards–but also resulted in a 50-horsepower loss over the model sold elsewhere.

This 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 MFI is one of those models built to be sold in the rest of the world, meaning that it still retained its full 210 horsepower rating thanks to its Bosch mechanical fuel injection system.

Although details about how this 911 made it into North America are not fully clear, it is known to have lived in the United States since at least 1997, where a previous owner had the car serviced for engine work.

The car was then resorted sometime around the mid-2000s with “over $60,000.00 in restoration work performed.” Part of that restoration included rebuilding the engine to a 2.9-liter capacity, upgrading the suspension with RSR components, and refinishing the exterior “while preserving as many of the original parts as possible.”

The listing reports that the car currently shows 40,460 kilometers (approximately 25,141 miles) on the odometer, though true mileage is unknown. As well, included in the sale of this 2.7 Carrera are service invoices, receipts, a copy of the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, a box of spare parts and “five miscellaneous tools.
