A Bugeye Sprite is rather unique in that the central part of the wiring harness is separate from the rest and the dashboard is removable. As a result, you can wire the dashboard on the bench.

With our wiring diagram in hand, we could simply trace the wires and connect them per the diagram. Before connecting anything, however, we marked each wire’s ends using masking tape and a pen. Then we laid the harness behind the dash in roughly its final resting place.

We also made sure to label both ends of the harness to simplify connections to the Bugeye’s front and rear chassis harnesses.
We also needed to accommodate some changes. Bugeye Sprites came from the factory with a mechanical tachometer, but since we fitted an electronic tach, we needed to add a circuit to our Moss Motors wiring harness.
The new tach did not have the high-beam indicator, so we added an external indicator and extended the wiring. We also added a switched circuit to power our electric fuel pump.
In an hour or so, we had the dash wired up and ready for installation.
