And in an ideal world, you won't notice any changes. It will still be a great place to chew the online fat, get help, discuss ideas and hotlink pictures. I think that's what most of us come here for.

No, you are not, and it's not that hard. Though it is made somewhat more difficult by meaningless, nonsensical thread titles. But I seem to be whistling in the dark when it comes to that, so I'll stop.

Nope, me too. Eventually though I found myself drifting away from the forum completely.

If only it were that easy. When I click on a thread about, say, fuel economy, I expect to read about fuel economy. Maybe some driving tips. Maybe some tuning tricks.
When the discussion degenerates from fuel economy to energy policy to the dark evil forces that control everything, to which side is to blame, that is something I did not bargain for.
Maybe there should be a "GRM Rewards Program" where if you post a thread definitively on the subject topic, honest to the point and as to be expected when ya click on it y'all might get sumthin' extra outta it. Maybe bonus points towards stickers, T-shirts or sumthin'.
Kinda tired of 'lookie here' w/ a undescribed CL or YouTube linky, WTF. I won't waste no berkeleying time on 'em.
Rewards is good, maybe fuel perks too.
FWIW I usually don't click on the links posted here or any other forum … occasionally … but usually not

Because it's easier to read something you don't like and get offended than it is to realise that maybe you should have just stopped reading.
In the movie "Howard Stern's Private Parts" once of the producers mentioned statistics that the average Stern fan listened for something like 30 minutes and the average Stern hater listened for around 45 minutes.
Generally, people seem to go out of their way to make themselves upset about something.
This is starting to seem like 6 pages of arguing about arguing, which isn't exactly the welcome mat I had in mind. I love you guys, but you wear me out.
As the movie “Stripes” said:
Here come your men now, sir.
I'll be the one shaking her head sadly at the end of the obstacle course.

I can lock it if you'd like (he says, knowing full well that you know how )

I want to argue about how pie is better than cake. Should I do that here or start a new thread?
Beer is better than pie or cake, and especially handy when reading/not reading certain threads.
In reply to logdog:
I'm sorry, the response to that is going to depend on the pie and the cake.
Spice Cake> Apple Pie.
Pumpkin Pie > Pineapple Cake.
Yellow Cake with chocolate sauce >>>> than just about anything.

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie > all pie desserts
Carrot Cake w/ cream icing > all cake desserts
Ice Cream > all food
I find all this talk of pie and cake offensive!
You must change to suit my opinions!

I have some loaves (loafs?) of pumpkin bread in the oven as I type. When it is done I will eat it and it will be better than pie or cake if only because there is no pie nor cake in the house.
Moms bannanna bread is better than any other food or beverage mentioned recently.
And my wife makes these bbq/bacon/water chestnut things that Iwwould kick Chuck Norris in the sack for.

After thinking about things and taking a few minutes to cool off, I've decided that my post above was in poor taste because I didn't make enough pumpkin bread for everyone. Please forgive me and my poor party manners.

All I know is this.....If the people who've made my life a little more fun and interesting for the past 31 years ask me to knock the E36 M3 off my shoes before I come into their house, I'm gonna knock the E36 M3 off my shoes.
I've been gone (from internetting) for a few months so I seem to have missed the kerfuffle.
The funny GIF thread is still going and there is still plenty of gearhead gold, so no complaints from this guy.
what is the policy for enforcing said rules.
