While molds do exist to completely replace our Elva’s body, we decided to instead repair our badly beaten fiberglass: Buying a new body would have taken months along with thousands of dollars while, more importantly, we didn’t want to wind up with the proverbial George Washington’s axe where nothing is still original.
We had the real deal–the body originally fitted to our Elva–and we were determined to keep it, no matter the effort it would take. That body was so damaged, though, that we started with some emergency repairs so that we could test fit the body to the chassis. We feared that, left alone, the body might break in half…
