They say it’s bad to change horses midstream, but sometimes you have no choice. Especially when that horse tells you to get off.
After waiting a couple of years to get our Bugeye Sprite project into The Body Werks, our longtime partner on these builds, we got some troubling news: Tom Prescott had sold the shop.
While not surprised, to be honest we were bit upset. However, he did promise us that things would stay the same with the car finished and on schedule and on budget.
In less than a week, though, we got more bad news: The new owners had no interest in restoration work and wanted the car out of their shop. Now.
We scrambled around, visited one shop that just didn’t feel right and, finally, settled on Jeff’s Restorations in Holly Hill, Florida. (Phone number is 386-795-1655.)
Jeff and his son, Jeff, and their body man, Javier, seemed to dig the Sprite, and their work has been impeccable so far. Despite having a backlog for more than a year, they took pity on us and our magazine deadlines and took in our car and got started.
