So, those seat frames for our Bugeye Sprite that we had blasted and primed? Turns out that the studs that create the pivot point so the seats can hinge forward were missing.
First, we carefully ground down the rest of the studs and then drilled out the remains.
As the hole was more than an 1/8 inch deep, we then threaded the hole and replaced the stud with a bolt fixed with thread-locker. We then removed the head of the bolt so it would clear the seatback.
This fairly simple repair should last as long as the car.
