Are you bringing this beauty to Monterey for Car Week?

We faced a big undertaking: turning a tired, worn-out Sprite into something that could be shown on the national stage. We figure that we spent about three years and close to $50,000 to build what can arguably be called one of the nicest Bugeye Sprites in the world. It has paint and bodywork that could win any concours, with an interior to match.
While we readily admit we spent too much time and money on what is arguably a lowly Austin-Healey Sprite, here’s another way to look at it: What other classic sports car in perfectly restored condition could you build for this price, especially once you consider paint and bodywork? (Added bonus: A Sprite brings a smile to everyone who sees it.)
And a project car should be a group project, too, right? We need to thank Rennie Bryant, Steve Sanguinetti, Tom Suddard, T.J. Leibee and Tim and Teri Murray for help in the shop. Look for our Sprite out and about.
